WHY zechub.wiki is translated into 19 languages, mostly by AI. For each language the AI follows a glossary (how to translate "wallet", "shielded", "block"...), and the site menus use fixed labels. If those are wrong, every page is wrong in the same way. A native speaker's review fixes this at the source: the menus improve right away, and so does every page translated afterwards. Italian and Indonesian are already done.
WHAT YOU DO Review two files and fill in the ✅ and Notes columns. The instructions are inside the files, in English.
- Glossary: 62 Zcash terms used in the wiki, plus 8 style questions (formal or informal "you", quotation marks, decimal separator...) https://github.com/ZecHub/zechub/blob/main/translation/glossary/test-fixtures/glossary-review-ak.md
- Menus: every label of the site menus https://github.com/ZecHub/zechub/blob/main/translation/glossary/test-fixtures/menus-review-ak.md
This language has no glossary yet, so this is more than a check: you create it. The "Proposed" column is mostly empty; the "Seen today" column shows how each term is translated on the site now. For each row write keep English, or your own translation (OK where a proposal is already right). Pay special attention to month names, numbers and dates, and to "quantum": machine translation got these wrong on several pages.
- Every change needs a one-line reason in Notes, in your own words.
- For 3 terms of your choice, add a link or screenshot showing what a local exchange or wallet app uses. Finished example (Italian): https://github.com/ZecHub/zechub/blob/main/translation/glossary/test-fixtures/glossary-review-it.md Time needed: about 3-4 hours.
WHO CAN APPLY
- The Akan ambassador or a reviewer they select (where there is no ambassador yet, the ZecHub translation team selects): a native Akan speaker who reads English well
- Good familiarity with Zcash and crypto in general
- Members active in ZecHub or Zcash communities for at least 6 months get priority
HOW TO APPLY Click Apply and include in your message: your country or region, a link to something you have written in Akan, one line on how you use Zcash, and your GitHub and Discord handles. You need a shielded Zcash address (UA) in your Profile to be paid.
HOW IT WORKS
- The Akan ambassador either does this review or selects the reviewer (a short trial on the first 10 rows, then a 10-minute voice call). Where there is no ambassador yet, the ZecHub translation team selects the reviewer.
- One reviewer is assigned. Deliver both filled files within 10 days, as a pull request to ZecHub/zechub (or shared in the bounty chat if you don't use GitHub).
- Validation: automatic quality checks, and a spot-check of part of the review by a second native speaker: the ambassador when they chose the reviewer, otherwise another native speaker. AI-generated or machine-translated answers are rejected and not paid.
REWARD 0.025 ZEC, paid after validation. Your name is recorded in the glossary's review history.
